Characteristics of a Pious Wife

A pious wife can make a poor husband feel like the richest man in the world with her contentment, satisfaction and gratitude while any other wife will make her rich husband feel poor with her nagging, demands and complaints.

Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W)

“The whole world is a provision, and the best object of benefit of the world is the Pious Woman.”

[Sahih Muslim]

Status of Wife in Islam:

Islam is very clear on the kind of wife men should be seeking. Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W) said

“A woman may be married for four reasons: For her property, her status, her beauty and her religion so try to get one who is religious, may you be blessed.”

This defines what kind of companion we are seeking. If a man marries women for her any other thing other than her religious piety, then marriage is bound to fall in misery. True beauty and charm are hard to resist yet beauty does not last forever and does not guarantee of her religious and obedience piety. Financial status is dynamic and so is a materialistic.

In another hadith, the hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W) said:

“The whole world is a provision, and the best abject of benefit of the world is the pious woman.”

A pious women’s priority is to seek the pleasure of ALLAH. She tries acquiring the qualities of a good wife by following the examples of the Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W) and obeying what is commanded in the Holy Quran. Complete obedience and adherence to the Sunnah of the hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W) and Quran is the best of a woman’s qualities.

“And women of purity are for men of purity, and men of purity are for women of purity.”

[surah An-Nur : 26]

And in another Quran says:

“Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allah and to their husbands) and guard in their husband’s absence what Allah orders them to guard (e.g. their honor, husband’s property, etc)” [4:34]
