Ceremony of marriage in Islam

Islam is not just about to worship it has complete code of life even small acts of a person’s life are also present in it. Marriage although is not a small act it is a decision of someone with whom he or she wants to spend his/her life. Islam provided complete details about marriage. Its obligation, its prohibition and ceremony of marriage.

Marriage Ceremony:

Ceremony of marriage includes some special guests. Because their presence is compulsory for the accomplishment of ceremony and those are wali or guardian of girl and witnesses.

Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ said:

“No marriage contract is valid without a wali.” Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood.

Witness for Marriage:

Presence of girl’s wali is important because without his presence marriage of girl is not possible. and its details are in marriage and permission of guardian. Witnesses for nikah are also important for ceremony of marriage in Islam. For witnesses at least there should be two Muslim men or one Muslim male and two Muslim female are required.

Mahr for Girl:

It is also compulsory that all witnesses are reached to adolescence and possess good character. Mahr is also an important part of ceremony of marriage in Islam. It is a gift from husband to her wife and its details are in concept of mahr in Islam. After that a learned person deliver khutbah of nikah and then bride acceptance from groom is taken by wali of girl in the presence of witness’s.

The Quran says,

“It is He Who has created man from water: then has He established relationships of lineage and marriage: for your Lord has power (over all things).” (25:54)

To make announcement of marriage publicly walimah is recommended. Walimah is sunnah and Muslims must follow the sunnah of their Prophet ﷺ.

The Prophet (ﷺ) saw a trace of yellow colouring on Abd al Rahman and asked, “What is this?” He answered, I got married. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “May Allah make it a blessing for you. Make a walimah even with only a sheep.” – Bukhari, Muslim and others.

Allah created all of us and everyone is in need of other to get comfort and soul peace. He almighty bless us with the right partner and give us strength to make a happy married life. (ameen)

“And among His signs is that He created for you of yourselves spouses that you may live in joy with them. and He has set between you love and mercy. Surely in that are signs for those who reflect.” (30:22)
