Zilhajj is the last holy month in which aggressiveness was prohibited. It is called the month of “Hajj” which means Pilgrimage. Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam. In the month of Zilhajj, the first ten days have the greatest honorable days. Most important HAJJ is performed during these days. Hazrat Abu Hurrairah (R.A) told that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said

“Amongst all days there are none better to engage in sole worship of Allah than in the ten days of Zilhajj. To observe a fast on any of these days is equivalent to fasting throughout the year, to actively engage in prayer and worship throughout any of these nights holds such rewarding values leveling with ‘night of power’ (Lay la tul-Qadr). ” [Tirmizi].

Muslims be pleased about two pronounced festivals yearly that is Eid-ul-Adha and Eid-ul-Fitr. Because Eid-ul-Fitr is the festival that comes after the month of Ramadan. And Eid-ul-Adha comes during the month of Zilhajj when an animal is sacrificed in the memorial of Hazrat Ibrahim (RA) sacrifice of his son Hazrat Ismael (RA). This festival is combined with the Hajj. So, Sacrifice is the great importance of this festival. This is a time for Muslims to study the worth of self-denial by sacrificing of that thing which is very special but not more than Allah. Hazrat Ibrahim (RA) completely shows that nothing more is important than Allah. He (RA) is a sample of honest submission to the Allah.

The story of Hazrat Ibrahim (RA) and the sacrifice of his son have a great impact to the whole Islam. So, This act shows the Muslims that we should make sacrifices without any hesitation. Because Allah gave the promise to Hazrat Ibrahim (RA) that he would be the father of many countries, Quran authorizes that:

“Lo: I have appointed thee a leader for mankind”. (Surah 2.124).
